What We’re Looking For: JPA’s Co-Op or Intern Mechanical Engineers work on a wide variety of projects and assignments, under the direction of project engineers and managers Supplemented with overall guidance from an engineering mentor, this approach ensures proper training and a well-rounded and productive co-op or internship engagement. Typical responsibilities include collaborating in a team environment providing heating and cooling load calculations; HVAC piping and duct design and layout; life-cycle cost analysis; engineering calculations; HVAC component and equipment selections; existing building site investigations; production of 3D construction drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other programs; coordination with other design team disciplines; contractor submittal reviews; and construction project site visits.
JPA’s ideal Mechanical Engineering Intern or Co-Op candidate should be a motivated person interested in working as part of a collaborative team to design mechanical systems for large and sophisticated projects. Past experience in building mechanical systems design is not required since you will be trained in the necessary skills. JPA’s office is located in Baltimore County near I-695 and I-795. Free parking is provided, housing may be offered, and availability of a car is recommended.
