Coppin State University Quad and Cafe revitalizes urban campus, wins major AIA award

The diverse elements of building and landscape combine to form a new public campus center forCoppin State University, inserted into what had once been an overgrown yard of neglect and disconnection. The re-imagined quad is gracefully landscaped with grade changes, greenery and stone. In partnership with Cho Benn Holback + Associates, James Posey Associates developed an intricate underground distribution network for providing power and systems wiring to areas of repose and reflection around the Quad. Along with peer consultants, the firm designed and specified the speakers, projector, screen, and systems distribution equipment for the Quad. This project was recognized by the AIA as the 2012 AIA Maryland Design winner for Public Building of the Year — Urban Design and Master Planning. Read more about it here.
