JPA Undertakes Major New Projects

James Posey Associates was selected as part of the design team for the Program of Requirements for renewal of the 826,450-SF Cannon House Office Building in Washington, DC for the Architect of the Capitol. A major modernization will provide a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade and renewal of the 1908 building and its systems.

Another prestigious new project is the Facilities Master Plan for the National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institution. We serve on the design team for the first comprehensive planning effort to fulfill the physical and operating requirements for the 687,000-SF museum that attracts 7-million visitors to the National Mall each year.

Furthering James Posey Associates’ presence in the nation’s Capital is our role as MEP design engineer on two GSA contracts for design-build projects funded by the Recovery Act for high-performance green building projects at selected federal facilities. Much of the work relates to installation of high-performance lighting and HVAC components to help decrease energy consumption and improve occupant comfort.

In addition to offices and training facilities, it will house an occupational health center and the Major Crimes Division of the Criminal Investigations Bureau with secure sally port and in-custody interview area.
