Dolphin Building
Maryland Institute College of Art: Baltimore, MD
JPA provided MEP programming and design services for the rebuilding of the Dolphin Building, a three-story masonry structure that served as MICA’s printmaking center for many years. To provide a larger and more modern facility, the original building was razed and a new five-story building was constructed. The new 3D visual arts design and artisan center houses state-of-the-art computer/fabrication labs, fabrication support areas, classrooms, seminar spaces, offices, and collaborative areas for programs in architectural and game design, interactive arts, and product design, along with studio concentrations in game arts and sound art. To help satisfy Baltimore City’s green building standards, JPA also provided third-party commissioning coordination and design services for the project.
