Parkway Theater

Seawall Development Company: Baltimore, MD

This $10M project anchors a prime corner of the Station North Arts District, at a critical juncture of North Charles Street and North Avenue in Baltimore City. The design both respects and enhances the rich heritage of the historic buildings while boldly communicating the transformation of the district into a vibrant, creative, and progressive arts center. The design creates a distinct hub for the convergence of film and music with three screens, flexible meeting and exhibit space, a restaurant and bar, lobby and concessions area, and related support spaces. To attract a broad and diverse audience, it was important the interior of the majestic Parkway be restored with a delicate hand and a celebration of the real and authentic character of the arts District. The goal of this project was to celebrate the history of all of the buildings, while complying with Maryland Historic Trust and other historic guidelines.
