Washington National Cathedral

Multiple Projects : Washington, DC

The Washington Cathedral is the world’s 6th sixth-largest Cathedral, a national treasure showcasing beautiful architecture. Constructed over 83 years, the Cathedral is an architectural masterpiece designed to point eyes and hearts toward things above. A thoroughly American interpretation of 14th Century English Gothic, the Cathedral was assembled using old world techniques. George Washington and Maj. Pierre L’Enfant cast the original vision for a unifying “great church for national purposes” during the republic’s early days, though it was another 100 years before the first stones were set. Over the last 10 years or so, JPA has provided the full breadth of MEP/FP engineering services as both the prime and subconsultant for renovations, upgrades, and modernization assignments for this iconic and historic facility, including organ restoration, library renovations, fire protection and life safety upgrades.
