Washington National Cathedral is the world’s sixth-largest cathedral, a national treasure showcasing beautiful architecture. A thoroughly American interpretation of 14th Century English Gothic, the cathedral was nevertheless assembled using old world techniques. During the republic’s early days, George Washington and Pierre L’Enfant had the original vision for a unifying “great church for national purposes,” although it was another 100 years before the first stones were set. Over the past decade, JPA has provided a full breadth of MEP/FP engineering services for renovations, upgrades, and modernization assignments that include organ restoration, library renovations, and fire protection and life safety upgrades.
