Adult Detention Center

Fairfax County: Fairfax, VA

Over the last several years, JPA has supported HOK on projects for the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC), providing a wide range of MEP/FP study and design services. This $45M phased project included MEP capital renewal and security upgrades in a continuously occupied facility. The ADC is a three-building complex comprised of North (1989, 93,000-SF), East (1978, 106,000-SF), and West (1995, 310,000-SF) wings with a 1,300-inmate capacity. While the buildings are interconnected, many of the building systems are not integrated. This capital project addressed the centralization, upgrade, and more effective operation of the complex’s infrastructure.
