Physical Education Activities Complex

Cecil College: Northeast, MD

Cecil College is an open admission institution with a diverse student population ranging from dual enrollment students and recent high school graduates to senior citizens. Cecil provides career, transfer, and continuing ed coursework and program. Constructed in 1979, the original phys ed facility was the 2nd building on the College’s main 32-acre campus in Maryland’s uppermost northeastern county. A $20.2M building program totaling 50,100-SF included a 21,000-SF addition and major systemic renovations to the existing space, increasing the total building size by 71%.  Featuring an extensive glass façade, the new, 2-story addition included an elevator, classrooms, locker rooms, restrooms, fitness center, weight training, aerobics and exercise areas, and Physical Therapy Assistant Program lab.  Renovation scope involved ADA compliance; new floor and bleachers in the gym; enlarged ticket and concession areas; study areas; large vending area opening to the lobby; locker and shower rooms for coaches and referees.
