Physical Education Complex

Cecil College is an open admission institution that provides career, transfer, and continuing education coursework and programs to a diverse student population that ranges from recent high school graduates to senior citizens. Constructed in 1979, the original physical education facility was the second building on the College’s main 32-acre campus. A $20.2M building program totaling 50,100-SF included a 21,000-SF addition and major systemic renovations to the existing space, increasing the total building size by 71 percent. Featuring an extensive glass façade, the new two-story addition included an elevator, classrooms, locker rooms, restrooms, a fitness and weight training center, aerobics and exercise areas, and a physical therapy assistant program lab. The renovation scope involved ADA compliance, a new gym floor and bleachers, enlarged ticket and concession areas, study areas, a large vending area open to the lobby, and locker and shower rooms for team officials.
