Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) : Baltimore, MD

The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) recently purchased the historic property at 81 Mosher Street in Baltimore City, with plans for a full renovation resulting in a Creative Learning Commons campus facility. Constructed in 1900, this historic building is five stories and 50,000-SF. Program for this $10M adaptive re-use project encompasses renovations to create academic and administrative spaces on the 1st, and 2nd floors. Leased space on the 3rd floor will remain occupied during design and construction along with the lower level, which is academic studio space. New mechanical systems will be provided for the lower level, 1st and 2nd floors. New electrical distribution equipment will be provided on the 1st and 2nd floors to serve the fully renovated spaces. The new mechanical and electrical systems are designed for future expansion into the 3rd and 4th floors. JPA is providing design and construction phase services for new MEP/FP infrastructure to be installed throughout the facility in a phased approach, while maintaining building operations.
