Buildings 46 & 67, Operational Archives & Research Repository
Washington Navy Yard : Washington, DC
JPA provided MEP/FP design and construction services for the modernization and adaptive re-use of two historic structures on the Washington Navy Yard campus – Building 46 (c. 1852) and Building 67 (c. 1898). They became the new Operational Archives & Research Repository, a mission of the Naval History and Heritage Command to collect, restore, preserve, and display rare naval artifacts (including photographs, documents, artwork, books, collectables, and special collections). Program spaces in this new facility include areas for archeological and historical research, art restoration, storage and labs, and offices. The modernization also supported upgrades to the buildings’ architectural, structural, and MEP/FP systems.
