New Athletic Center
Roland Park Country School: Baltimore, MD
A new two-story, $19 million athletic center for this independent college preparatory girls’ day school is the campus’ only LEED Gold certified building. The 60,000-SF facility includes a triple-court gymnasium, upper and middle school locker rooms, coaches and staff locker rooms, a weight and fitness room, rowing tank, multi-purpose room, athletic offices, and a 3,300-SF jogging track in the gymnasium roof truss space. The eight-station indoor rowing tank facility was the first of its kind in a Maryland secondary school.
Among the sustainable features included in the project are CO2 ventilation control, rainwater harvesting for cooling tower make-up, high efficiency modular magnetic bearing chillers, condensing boilers, exhaust air energy recovery with an enthalpy energy exchanger wheel, and an intensive green roof.
