Crofton High School

Anne Arundel County Public Schools: Crofton, MD

Situated within Crofton Park, the new $95.1M Crofton High School incorporates nature to provide students with an inspiring learning environment. The first new high school construction project in the County since 1992, JPA provided MEP design and construction phase services for this project whose design took advantage of the site’s steep slope by connecting the 3-story academic to the non-academic building (media center, gym, cafeteria, admin) through 2nd and 3rd floor connecting bridges, with an outdoor amphitheater nestled in the space between. Distinctive design features include natural light, flexible classroom spaces, centrally located flex classrooms, open corridors with collaborative spaces, innovative use of materials, sustainable design features (natural daylighting, intelligent lighting controls, zoning, energy modeling/reduction, maximizing ventilation, water-efficient systems, well-insulated envelope, use of durable and recycled materials, enhanced Cx).
