Dundalk Elementary School
Baltimore County Public Schools : Dundalk, MD
Accommodating 735 students, this new 99,600-SF elementary school represented a major step in revitalizing the Dundalk community’s rich heritage. The project focus was based on the school’s theme, “Celebrating tradition while moving forward.” To preserve the history of the 100-year-old school building, the design/construction teams partnered with a local historical society to incorporate elements from the original school into the new facility. Design included reuse and restoration of the stone entry facade, auditorium proscenium, and brick chimney. JPA provided engineering and construction phase services for the building’s MEP/FP design, including a ground-source geothermal system and other sustainable design features.
