Meade High School Renovation & Addition
Anne Arundel County Public Schools: Fort Meade, MD
This project included a comprehensive feasibility study, followed by more than three years of design and construction that resulted in the complete modernization of this large, suburban high school. Originally constructed in 1977, the school underwent 95,300-SF of demolition, 249,000-SF of interior building renovations, and 130,600-SF of new construction. The resulting 379,600-SF facility accommodates a student population of 2,500, with operation of the existing school maintained throughout construction. A portion of the school is uniquely located on the Fort George G. Meade military base, which allowed the $142.2M project to be partially funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment. The JPA team provided MEP engineering services throughout all phases of the project.
