Meade Senior High School
Addition & Renovations: Fort Meade, MD
This major renovation and addition study, design, and construction project encompasses the complete modernization of Meade Senior High School, a large, suburban school. Constructed in 1977, with previous renovations (2008) and addition (2015), this phased-while-occupied assignment increases the school’s size from 334,370-SF and 2,200 students to 379,050-SF and 2,500 students. With a portion of the school uniquely located on the Fort George G. Meade military base, this $142.2M project is being partially funded by a grant from the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) to address the school’s capacity and condition. The JPA team is providing MEP design and construction services, which aligns with the scheme outlined in the feasibility study and includes 95,300-SF of demolition, 249,000-SF in renovations, and 130,600-SF of new construction.
