Bancroft Hall Rehabilitation

JPA was the engineer of record for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the nation’s largest college dormitory complex. JPA designed the replacement of utility infrastructure and all mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1.5 million-SF structure was built in eleven interconnected wings and houses the 4,200-member Brigade of Midshipmen. Eight dormitory towers and three historic ceremonial and assembly spaces are tied together by a 500,000-SF base containing dining halls, medical/dental offices, firing ranges, midshipmen/alumni retail shops, and administrative offices. The design and construction were accomplished over a ten-year period in nine phases.
