Healthcare & Surgery Center at Belward Farm

Johns Hopkins Hospital planned to construct a new outpatient surgery center on an undeveloped parcel of its Belward life sciences campus. The building was slated to be the first on the site, with future phases to include a second outpatient building and a multi-level parking garage. The concept design for this building was a 123,000-SF, four-story ambulatory surgery center housing central sterile, radiology, primary care, medical oncology/infusion, pharmacy, and specialty clinical space; laboratory and medical support space; and a small café, waiting area, and lobby.

JPA provided building MEP/FP systems design with the following: site lighting, including parking lots and sidewalks; outlet boxes, pathways, and power for AV/IT, security, building access, and low-voltage systems; a nurse-call system; a standby and emergency generator system and associated fuel supply; storm water roof and deck drains; and an exhaust, make-up air, and sanitary grease interceptor associated with the café.
