Chadwick Elementary School

Following community and design team recommendations established during the feasibility study, the $40M, 99,600-SF Chadwick Replacement Elementary School was constructed on the same site as the existing building. Operations of the existing school and construction of the new facility were completely separated by maintaining existing sidewalks around the building to facilitate pedestrian access. Based on the County’s prototype concept, modifications were made to the exterior and entrance sequences to accommodate the existing site profile. The resulting design creates an environment that promotes learning and collaborative study, generates an attractive, aesthetically appealing facility in harmony with its natural environment, and provides recreational opportunities for the surrounding community. The replacement school provides a technologically advanced and energy efficient learning environment for both students and teachers. JPA provided engineering design and construction phase services for the building’s MEP/FP systems, including a ground-source geothermal heat pump system and other sustainable design features.
