Alex Brown Building Revitalization

Metropolitan Baltimore VI: Baltimore, MD

Built in 1901 and surviving Baltimore’s infamous 1904 fire, the historic 17,000-GSF calls the corner of Baltimore and Calvert Street home, providing an epicenter of banking and business to the City of Baltimore for decades. Centuries have passed, and the Alexander Brown building still stands today, opening a new chapter in its history in 2019, as The Alexander Brown Restaurant. The building provides a historic setting for modern conversation, phenomenal food, and worldly design for guests from near and far.  JPA provided engineering investigation, schematic design and final design following the investigation which determined just about all of the building’s MEP systems would need to be replaced for this iconic re-purposing and restoration project. JPA supplied MEP/FP for the facility upgrade and modernization while being sensitive to preserving the building’s historic fabric.
