Towson University West Village Commons achieves LEED Gold Certification and IES lighting award

The Towson University West Village Commons is the first Towson University building to be LEED Gold Certified. Among a myriad of sustainable elements within the building’s design — the Towson University newsroom touts the building as reducing energy by 24-50%, water use by 40% and solid waste by 70% — James Posey Associates’ design included a magnetic levitation type high-efficiency chiller and a new substation for the new electrical distribution system. The West Village Commons also received a 2012 Merit Award for Lighting Design from IES.
